Multi Staff Attribution and Team Commissions on Shopify POS
Multi Staff Attribution and Team Commissions on Shopify POS
Multi-attribution allows you to credit several staff members for the same sale on Shopify POS and split commissions accurately between them.
This is useful when more than one team member has contributed to a sale, such as product recommendations, sales that require multiple staff members, or checkout assistance.
Easyteam manages the entire split automatically according to your existing commission plans.
When to use multi attribution
Multi attribution is ideal in situations such as:
- Several employees helped the same customer
- A product expert assisted before a cashier completed the checkout
- A manager and associate closed the sale together
- You want commissions to reflect teamwork rather than only the person tapping “Pay”
Using multi attribution ensures commission payouts are fair, accurate, and consistent with how your store operates day to day.
How to attribute multiple staff members on POS
Steps
- Process the order as usual from Shopify POS.
- Find the Easyteam attribution tile on the post-checkout screen
- Select one or more staff members using the checkboxes
- Use the search bar to quickly find staff by name
- Tap Save to apply the attribution

The tile shows only active staff assigned to the current POS location.
How Easyteam calculates commissions
After a sale is attributed to multiple staff members, Easyteam calculates commission for each person based on:
- Their individual commission plans
- Whether each product in the order is eligible for a commission for the staff member
- The number of eligible attributed staff members
- The rules of your plan (percent, flat, or tiered)
Each staff member is credited with their share of the sale. Sales goals are tracked individually per staff member.

The logic in practice
- Every staff member sees the full sale amount
- The commissionable value is split only among the staff who are eligible for that product
- Ineligible staff earn 0 for products their plan doesn’t cover
- Total commission never exceeds the amount that would have been paid if only one staff member had been attributed
- Tiered plans work the same way as before, based on each staff member’s individual progress
This ensures commissions remain fair for everyone involved in the sale.
How multi attributed sales appear inside Easyteam
When viewing sales and commissions in Easyteam, multi attributed sales are clearly identified so you can see how contributions were shared.

For each sale you'll be able to see:
- Attributed Staff - shows how many staff contributed. Tip: Hovering over the number shows all their names.
- Sales Amount - the full sale value (same for each staff member)
- Commissionable Sales - the portion that applies to that staff member based on their eligibility
- Commission - the final calculated commission
These fields also appear consistently when exporting to Excel or CSV files.
You can click into each sale to understand exactly how the split was applied.
Refunds, returns, and adjustments
If a sale's attribution is changed, a sale is refunded or edited:
- Easyteam recalculates each staff member’s share
- Partial refunds are applied proportionally
- Full refunds zero out the commission
- Multi attribution is preserved even if some staff are later deactivated
There is no extra action required.
Notes when using Shopify’s native attribution
Shopify’s built-in attribution tool supports only one staff member.
As a best practice, choose either Easyteam’s tile or Shopify's tile for all attributions to keep data consistent.
Multi attribution gives your team a more accurate and fair commission process, without extra work.
Your daily POS workflow stays exactly the same, only the commission results become more accurate.
