How do I create a steps commission plan?

Creating a Sales Goals commission plan

The Sales Goals method allows you to set sales goals for your staff members and incentivize them for reaching higher goals.

For example, you can set a 2% commission for sales up to $1000, then 3% on sales above that.
The sales goals commission, also called a "tiered" plan, gives your staff members the most incentive to increase sales and reach higher goals 📊

➡️ Go to the Sales and Commissions page.

➡️ Click on the Commission Plans button.

➡️ Сlick on the Create Plan button and choose Sales Goals Commission from the plan type selector.

➡️ In the commission configuration screen, choose a Name for your commission plan.

➡️ Configure the Sales goals

Configure ranges of total sales, where the commission percentage changes when the staff member reaches higher amounts of sales.

In the screenshot, the plan is configured to start applying commissions after $1,000 are reached in total sales with a 2% commission.
Then, when reaching $2,000 in total sales, a 3% commission will apply. After $3,000 in total sales, apply a 4% commission.

All sales goals in this plan are personal. Meaning a staff member needs to personally be attributed to sales in these amounts to be eligible for a commission. Also, commissions are calculated separately for each staff member.

➡️ Select which products will be eligible for this commission plan by marking the checkboxes next to the products.

Your products’ categories appear on the left side. When you select a category, click the checkbox on the top of the table to add the entire product line to the commission plan.

Select what products are eligible for a commission

In some cases, the commissions screen shows USD '$' near the commission selector, however the commission will always be calculated in your store's default currency.

Calculation method:
Choose how commissions are calculated across different sales tiers. For example, with tiers set as:

- $1,000-$2,000: 2% commission
- $2,000-$3,000: 3% commission

You can select between two calculation methods:
Choose Multiple Rates to calculate each tier separately. Example: For $2,500 in sales, the staff member would earn 2% on the first $1,000-$2,000 which amounts to $20, and 3% on the remaining $500 which amounts to $15. The total commission in this case is $35

Choose Uniform Rates to apply the highest achieved tier's rate to all qualifying sales. In the example above, Example: For $2,500 in sales, calculate 3% of the entire $2,500 because it reached the second tier. The total commissions in this case is $75.

Discounts: When checked, calculate the eligible commission after deducting any applied discounts.

Choose your preferred time frame: Calculate the commission plan for flexible periods like weekly, bi-weekly or monthly time periods. Or, choose "Daily" to reset the commission targets every day.
