Easyteam and Avia integration: Schedule smarter with foot traffic counts

Online stores have always known how many people visited and how many of them bought something. Physical stores usually don't. You know your sales, but not how many people walked through the door — so a slow Tuesday looks the same whether nobody came in, or plenty of people came in and nobody bought.

The Easyteam integration with Avia closes that gap. Avia is a Shopify POS analytics app that counts foot traffic in your store using a small in-store device. When you connect it to Easyteam, your schedules, AI Scheduler, and Sales & Commissions reports start using real visitor data instead of sales alone.

Conversion Rate calculated per staff member based on store visitors

That means you can:

  • build schedules around forecasted foot traffic, not last week's sales
  • see whether a past day was overstaffed or understaffed for the traffic it actually got
  • compare staff on conversion rate, not just total sales — so a strong seller on a quiet shift gets credit
  • let the AI Scheduler staff up for expected busy hours automatically, but also choose your best performers in terms of Conversion Rate

Before you start

The Avia integration has three requirements. All three must be in place before any foot traffic data appears in Easyteam.

1. Avia installed and collecting data

Your store needs the Avia app installed from the Shopify App Store, with the Avia in-store device installed and running at each location where you want foot traffic counts. Read more on the Avia website

2. Easyteam time tracking in use

Conversion rate per staff member is calculated by matching attributed sales to the hours a staff member was clocked in. If your team doesn't clock in and out through Easyteam, there are no shift hours to match against, and per-staff conversion rate can't be calculated.

If you haven't set up time tracking yet, install Easyteam and refer to Set up time tracking on Shopify POS.

3. The integration activated by Easyteam support

Contact us through the chat bubble to get started — our team will be happy to show you how to activate the integration.

Foot traffic counts and store-level conversion rate work as soon as Avia is connected. Per-staff conversion rate additionally requires that staff clock in and out through Easyteam.

Activate the integration

Once your store is connected, you can manage the integration from your Easyteam settings.

Steps:

  1. From Easyteam, go to Settings.
  2. Click Integrations.
  3. Find the Avia - Foot traffic counter integration card.
  4. Check that the status badge shows Active.

The status badge tells you the current state of the connection:

If the Avia card doesn't appear on your Integrations page, please contact our team.

Understand conversion rate in Easyteam

Conversion rate (CVR) answers a simple question: out of everyone who walked in, how many bought something?

Conversion rate = Transactions ÷ Visitors

If 100 people walked into your store and 12 of them made a purchase, your conversion rate is 12%.

Easyteam calculates conversion rate at two levels:

  • Store or location level — all transactions divided by all visitors, for a location and time period. Use this to compare different locations and days on a high level view.
  • Staff member level — sales attributed to that staff member, divided by the visitors who came in while they were clocked in. Use this to measure the performance of your individual staff members.

Foot traffic in Schedules

Your schedule view will show visitor data alongside your existing scheduling information.
Managers can also access this data to help them plan and optimize the weekly schedule.

Peak hours

The peak hours graph switches from showing transactions to showing actual store traffic for past dates and estimated store traffic for today and future dates.

This is a meaningful upgrade: peak transaction hours tell you when people bought, but peak traffic hours tell you when people were in the store. Those aren't always the same.

Peak hours based on foot traffic counts

For future dates, Easyteam shows a forecasted visitor count, based on previous data to help you anticipate peak times and adjust your staffing accordingly.

Daily summaries

Each day in your schedule gets a visitor count in the daily summary row, marked with a 👟 icon.

  • Past dates show the actual number of visitors
  • Today and future dates show Avia's forecasted visitor count

Hover over the number to see more detail about visitors, transactions, and the resulting conversion rate.

Daily summary: Visitors, transaction and conversion rates

To view data for a different location, use the Locations dropdown at the top of your schedule to switch between your available locations. You can also select multiple locations to view aggregate visitor and sales data across several stores at once.

To show or hide visitor counts, click View in your schedule, then find Total Visitors under Daily Summaries.

Visitor data is delayed by up to 24 hours.

Reviewing whether a day was staffed correctly

Comparing visitors against your scheduled hours is the fastest way to spot staffing problems after the fact. For example:

  • High traffic, low conversion rate — you likely didn't have enough people on the floor
  • Low traffic, high labor cost — you were probably overstaffed for the day
  • High traffic, high conversion rate — the schedule worked

Use these patterns based on your store's historical data to adjust the following week's schedule. For more on managing labor cost against sales, refer to Retail Goals.

Conversion rate per staff member

Each staff member's row in the schedule gets a conversion rate value, marked with a % icon.

  • For past weeks — the conversion rate that staff member achieved that week
  • For the current and future weeks — their average conversion rate over the last 60 days.

Hover over the percentage to see the underlying numbers: visitors, transactions, and the calculated rate.

To show or hide this, click View in your schedule, then find Conversion Rate under Staff information.

Conversion rate for staff members is visible to Admins and Managers only. Staff members don't see conversion rates — their own or anyone else's — in their schedule view.

Choose staff for open shifts

When you post an open shift and multiple staff members request it, you have to pick someone. Conversion rate gives you a performance-based way to decide.

When selecting a person to fill in critical shifts, the open shift request screen now displays each staff member’s conversion rate from the last 60 days, helping you choose the team member who most consistently converts visitors into sales.

Use foot traffic in the AI Scheduler

The AI Scheduler builds an optimized schedule for you. When the Avia integration is active, it gets two new signals to work with.

Forecasted traffic — the AI Scheduler knows which upcoming days and hours are expected to be busy, and staffs up for them, prioritizing your best sellers. Previously it could only infer this from past sales patterns.

Staff conversion rates — when choosing between available staff members, the AI Scheduler favors those with stronger conversion rates.

The Easyteam AI Scheduler takes foot traffic, peak hours, and conversion rates into account

These signals apply to the Maximum sales and Sales-to-cost ratio optimization options.

For more information about AI Scheduler and its different settings, read AI Scheduling: Automatically Schedule Your Team

Steps:

  1. From Easyteam, go to Schedules.
  2. Open the AI Scheduler.
  3. Select Maximum sales or Sales-to-cost ratio.
  4. Generate the schedule.

You'll see a note below the optimization options confirming that foot traffic data from Avia is being used.

Staff members without enough conversion rate history — new hires, or anyone who hasn't worked many tracked shifts — are handled fairly by the AI Scheduler using your store's average values.

Conversion rate in Sales & Commissions

Your Sales & Commissions report gets a Conversion Rate column, positioned between Sales amount per labor hour and Commission.

Conversion rate metrics per staff member

This is the piece that changes how you evaluate your team. Sales per labor hour rewards whoever has the highest efficiency. Conversion rate rewards whoever sold most effectively to the people actually in front of them.

The column shows each staff member's conversion rate for the date range and locations you've selected, and you can sort by it to find your strongest closers.

Leverage this data to reward your top-performing staff—consider offering incentives like a special bonus for the team member with the highest conversion rate.

Deactivate the integration

You can turn the integration off at any time without uninstalling anything.

Steps:

  1. From Easyteam, go to Settings.
  2. Click Integrations.
  3. Find the Avia - Foot traffic counter integration card.
  4. Click Deactivate.

When deactivated, all foot traffic counts, visitor forecasts, and conversion rate columns are hidden across Easyteam. Your schedules, timesheets, sales, and commission data are unaffected.

Click Activate on the same card to turn it back on.

Troubleshoot the Avia integration

The Integrations page doesn't appear in my settings

The Integrations page is only available to Admins. Check your permission level, or ask an Admin at your store to help.

The Avia card doesn't appear on the Integrations page

Your store isn't connected to Avia yet. The card only appears once Easyteam has your store's Avia connection set up. Reach out through the chat bubble to get started.

The status badge shows Error

The data sync is having a problem, and you may be seeing outdated foot traffic data. Check that:

  • your Avia subscription is still active in your Shopify Admin
  • your Avia devices are online and reporting

If both look correct, contact us through the chat bubble — the connection may need to be re-established on our end.

Visitor counts show for some locations but not others

Foot traffic is only counted at locations with an Avia device installed and running. Locations without a device won't show visitor counts, forecasts, or conversion rate.

If you've recently added a new location in Shopify, it also won't have data until an Avia device is installed there and has collected some history.

Today's visitor count is missing or looks wrong

Visitor data is delayed by up to 24 hours. Today's numbers appear the following day. For today and future dates, Easyteam shows Avia's forecast rather than actual counts.

Why staff conversion rates don't add up to your store total

This is the part that surprises people:

  • Visitors are shared. If three staff members are clocked in when a visitor walks in, that visitor counts in the denominator for all three.
  • Transactions are not shared. Only the staff member who makes the sale gets that transaction in their numerator. The others get the visitor, but not the sale. Use multi-staff sale attribution by Easyteam to split the whole transaction among several employees.

This means if you add up the conversion rates of everyone on a shift, you'll get a number higher than the store's overall conversion rate. That's expected — each sale is credited to the staff member its attributed to.

Use conversion rate to compare staff members to each other - the comparison is fair even if employees work different shifts and different locations, and the conversion rate will be calculated based on the right amount of visitors.

A staff member's conversion rate is blank

Check whether:

  • the staff member clocks in and out through Easyteam — conversion rate requires tracked shift hours
  • they had shifts at a location with an Avia device
  • the selected date range includes shifts they actually worked
  • sales are being attributed to them via POS

If your team isn't tracking time yet, refer to Set up time tracking on Shopify POS.

A staff member's conversion rate looks too high or too low

If several staff members work the same shift, they share the same visitor pool, but only the person who made each sale gets that transaction. That can make individual rates look higher than the store total. See Why staff conversion rates don't add up to your store total.

Conversion rate shows 0%

This means visitors were counted during that staff member's shifts, but no sales were attributed to them. Check that sales are being attributed correctly at POS.

Conversion rate shows a dash (-)

No visitor data is available for the selected range. This usually means the integration was activated after those dates, no Avia device was running, or the data hasn't synced yet.
